TOBACCO 101
Kick Butts is a program dedicated to educating the Youth about the dangers of tobacco. Kids at participating communities were given rubber bracelets (similar to the Live Strong bracelets) that had the #1200 on it. 1200 is the number of people who die EVERY day from smoking cigarettes. The kids were asked to wear the bracelet every day to remind them of the dangers of smoking and to make a stand against peer pressure. The reason it is called it Tobacco 101 is because we discussed the general facts about smoking cigarettes such as, disease and illness linked to smoking, how much life you lose, whatthe ingredients are in smoking (one puff contains 4,000 chemicals), nicotine is addictive and – why it’s so hard to quit.
